I just recently learned that the word God means "to invoke, or call upon", but this word carries much more weight than a simple phrase. It has a bad reputation amongst many people who are not governed by a religion, and even more so given this reputation by the unjust religious sects whose actions are founded on hate and discrimination... even though they claim to represent this 'God-figure' who is suppose to represent love, peace, acceptance and understanding.
I am run by no religion. I do not believe in religion, but I do believe in God... I have not always been this way...
But
God, to me, is not a being in the skies waiting for the opportune time
to strike down sinners with his mighty powers! No. God is Spirit. God is
Life. God is all that was, is, and ever will be.
Is God misunderstood? I believe so. Both by those who claim to be followers and those who do not.
To me, God is the power behind the creation; in scientific terms, the power behind the Big Bang. This power behind the Big Bang scientists simply refer to as energy. And scientists tell us, in so many words, that this energy is all that was, is, and ever will be.
In other words, while the universe may always be in constant change,
moving, shifting, being created or destroyed, the only one thing that
will always remain is this energy. Just the same as this God we speak of.
God is EVERYTHING!
But
when I attempt to bring up anything in relation to God, using the title
"God", people are offended. "I don't believe in God", they tell me.
While yet, they tell me they believe in a "higher power". But isn't that
the same thing?
No. It's not.
Why?
Because man has carried out horrible, unjustifiable, disgusting acts "in
the name of God". So, it's as though any time the title God is
used, these things come to mind and push away anyone with the potential
of believing in something greater. And I don't blame them. The Old
Testament, which is still idolized by many Christians, LITERALLY
worships SIN. And for any who would disagree, I strongly recommend studying the words of Jesus Christ in the New Testament...
My
conclusion...? God needs a new title, one that separates itself from
the despicable acts carried out in this name and the evils found in the
bibles of the world but still gives credit to this Spirit for the truth
and inspiration found in these same religious texts...
